Birds and biodiversity
The wetlands are already a popular destination for birdwatching and wildlife spotting with locals and visitors alike, with species sightings being recorded on a number of different websites and social media outlets.
For example, the Cornwall Birdwatching and Preservation Society has Calstock on their sightings database and there is a popular Calstock Wetlands Facebook page for pictures and comments:
Species to look out for include marsh harrier, snipe, black-tailed godwit and shelduck.
Opportunities to monitor the progress and proliferation of animal, bird and plant life will continue to be explored and reported here.
