Discover Dartmoor through art, poetry and handmade pigments with Anne‑Marie Furse at Tamar Valley Centre. Inspiring & immersive. Free talk!
Join us at the Tamar Valley Centre on Wednesday 13th May 2026 (6pm-7:30pm) for an inspiring talk with Anne‑Marie Furse; a landscape artist, printmaker and children’s book illustrator whose work connects together place, stories and materials of the land.
Anne‑Marie’s practice is shaped by a lifelong fascination with the history and wild beauty of Dartmoor. In this talk, she’ll share how she creates her vibrant, atmospheric pieces (artworks that aim to capture not just what a landscape looks like, but how it feels).
One of the most distinctive aspects of Anne‑Marie’s art is her use of handmade pigments, created from foraged rocks found across Devon and Cornwall. Painting with natural, locally sourced materials brings an added layer of authenticity and connection to the landscapes that inspire her.
Storytelling sits at the heart of everything she does. Often beginning with poetry, Anne‑Marie uses words as a starting point for visual exploration, weaving together place, memory and imagination. Through her work, she encourages others to look closely and reconnect with the natural world.
Alongside the talk, Anne‑Marie will also be showing a mini exhibition at the Tamar Valley Centre from 5th – 29th May, giving you the chance to come and see her work throughout the month.
